About Us:
Bloom Education is a London-based nature education CIC dedicated to inspiring young people to connect with nature. www.bloomeducation.co.uk. We run outdoor workshops in local parks or a school’s grounds that give pupils the opportunity to experience nature in a vivid and direct way. Our extensive experience has shown that these sessions increase pupils' knowledge of nature, enhance their wellbeing and provide a deeper motivation to care for the environment. We work with primary and some secondary schools mostly in inner London boroughs. Our vision has always been to provide these workshops free. We received our first grant from the London Legacy Development Corporation that enabled us to launch our programmes in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We have a long-term partnership with our current funders, The Conservation Foundation. Since 2019 when Bloom was founded we have worked with about twenty schools and run over a hundred workshops reaching around two thousand young people. As well as the workshops, we are currently developing a Young Conservation Leaders Award with the Conservation Foundation. We have a team of six freelancers who are trained by us to deliver the workshops. There are five dedicated directors on the board.
We are partners with Bertha Earth, Values Based Education and The Human Values Foundation. We have published an anthology of nature writing with the English and Media Centre. We are participating in an Oxford University research project into nature-based programmes for mental health and wellbeing of young people.
